You can earn a lot of gems in Kingshot by doing events, hunting terrors, and completing daily tasks. But it’s important to spend your gems wisely. Based on what I and most experienced players recommend, here are the best ways to use your gems:
- Hero Roulette Event
- VIP XP and Activation
These two things are worth spending your gems on. We will discuss the “why” below.
Hero Roulette
The Hero Roulette event starts on the second day of the Hall of Governors event. It’s a must-do event for both F2P (free-to-play) and P2W (pay-to-win) players because you can get tons of hero shards—like Saul in Gen 1 and Zoe in Gen 2.
If you’ve got extra gems, this is the best place to spend them. Mythic Heroes are usually tough to upgrade, but the ones featured in Hero Roulette become way easier to level up—at least to 4 stars—if you use your gems smartly. That way, you can unlock and max out their skills.
The best strategy for this event is to spin in a way that matches the spin reward milestones. These rewards usually come at:
5, 15, 35, 70, and 120 spins.
Your goal should be to hit these milestones—not just spin randomly in between them. So for example:
- If you don’t have many gems, aim for 5 spins.
- If you’ve saved up a bit more, go for 15 spins or more.
Each spin costs 1,500 gems, so plan ahead and save accordingly.
This is how many hero shards you get per spin if you hit those milestone rewards:
- 5 Spins – 1.54 shards/spin
- 15 Spins – 1.65 shards/spin
- 35 Spins – 1.69 shards/spin
- 70 Spins – 1.63 shards/spin
- 120 Spins – 1.67 shards/spin
As you can see, 35 spins gives the best value overall, but if you’re short on gems, try to go for at least 15 spins to make it worth it.
VIP XP and Activation
VIP XP and activating VIP are also great ways to spend your extra gems—especially after you’ve taken care of Hero Roulette.
The best time to start activating VIP is when you reach VIP Level 4. Before that, it’s not really worth it. VIP 4 gives you a 10% construction speed boost, which is super helpful. Activating VIP costs 10,000 gems per month, so once you hit VIP 4, try to save 10K gems each month to keep it active.
Next up is VIP XP, which you need to level up your VIP status. You can get VIP XP by spending gems, buying it from the Alliance Store, or through real-money packs.
Your main goal should be to reach VIP Level 8. After that, I’d suggest you stop spending gems on VIP XP and just get it from the Alliance Store whenever you can. VIP 8 gives you all the important benefits: faster building, formations, an extra march queue, and even a daily mythic shard.
Below is a table showing the VIP XP required for each level and the number of gems needed reach it:
VIP Level | Required VIP XP | Gem Cost |
---|---|---|
1 | – | – |
2 | 2,500 | 5,000 |
3 | 5,000 | 10,000 |
4 | 12,500 | 25,000 |
5 | 30,000 | 60,000 |
6 | 40,000 | 80,000 |
7 | 70,000 | 140,000 |
8 | 100,000 | 200,000 |
9 | 350,000 | 700,000 |
10 | 600,000 | 1,200,000 |
11 | 1,200,00 | 2,400,000 |
12 | 2,400,000 | 4,800,000 |
Also, when you look at the gem cost, it makes sense to stop at VIP 8:
- Going from VIP 1 to VIP 8 costs around 520,000 gems total.
- But going from VIP 8 to VIP 9 costs 700,000 gems just for that one level.
So the gem value really drops after VIP 8. That’s why VIP 8 is the sweet spot, especially for F2P players. You get the most useful benefits without spending an insane amount of gems.
