Save Days on Building Upgrades with Double Time

Once you upgrade your Town Center to level 6 in Kingshot, you unlock the Court of Justice. This lets you activate decrees in your town. There are a few different ones, but the most useful by far is Double Time.

I see so many players stacking millions of Contentment and never using it on decrees—especially Double Time, which is a huge missed opportunity. This decree cuts 20% off the construction time for all building upgrades you start in the next 5 minutes. It has a 1-day cooldown, so you can only use it once per day.

Upgrade times after Town Center level 25 get really long—some take weeks. So that 20% time reduction from Double Time can save you days and help your base grow a lot faster.

How to use Double Time the right way:

  • Activate Double Time before starting your upgrade.
  • If it’s on cooldown, wait it out. Sure, you might save a few hours by starting early, but waiting can save you days once Double Time is ready again—totally worth it.
  • Double Time works differently from normal construction speed boosts (like those from research, VIP, or the Chief Minister). Those bonuses stack with each other. But Double Time cuts 20% from the base construction time first, and then all your other bonuses get applied afterward.

So yeah, if you use Double Time regularly and smartly, you’ll save a ton of time and level up your Town Center way faster.

  1. “Activate Double Time before starting your upgrade”

Does this mean it has no effect if the upgrade has already started?

    • Yes, it doesn’t affect any upgrades that were already in progress. You have to activate Double Time before starting an upgrade. Any upgrade you begin during the 5 minutes that Double Time is active will have a reduced build time.
