In Kingshot, not all research projects are equally important. Some should be prioritized over others. By following the right order for your Academy research, you can get ahead of players who don’t focus on the right things.
This is what you should prioritize in the Academy:
Growth Section:
- Command Tactics
- Tooling Up
- Tool Enhancement
Economy Section:
- Only focus on Gathering Research. In the game’s later stages, gathering will provide more resources than relying solely on output from resource buildings.
Battle Section:
- Regimental Expansion
- Assault Techniques
- Survival Techniques
- Research that boosts lethality for Archers and Cavalries and health for Infantries.
- Special Defensive Training
- Weapons Prep
Lethality and Health are the key stats you need to focus on in this section.
Now, let’s go over why these are the most important priorities.
March Queue and Faster Construction and Research
In the Growth Section, I always start by focusing on building a strong foundation for my Town. The first two research projects I work on are Tooling Up and Tool Enhancement. Tooling Up increases your construction speed, while Tool Enhancement boosts your research speed.
When both of these are maxed out, you’ll get a +27.80% boost to each speed, and even a small boost in these can make a huge difference.
For example, maxing out the Growth Tree alone takes 883 days, which is a long time. Then you’ve got the Economy and Battle trees to work on too, so you’re looking at years of research.
But with speedups and the right research, you can cut that time down significantly. That’s why starting by laying the right foundation for your Town is crucial.
Another key research in the Growth Section is Command Tactics. This one’s important, and the good news is, you can max it out at Town Center 18, which isn’t too far off if you’re rushing your Town.
Completing this research gives you 3 extra march queues, which helps in many ways—like completing intel missions faster, joining more rallies for extra damage on Raging Bear, and sending more marches out to gather resources.
So, these three researches—Tooling Up, Tool Enhancement, and Command Tactics—should be your top priorities in the Growth Tree.
One research you can completely ignore in the Growth Section is Camp Expansion. This one lets you train more troops at once, but it doesn’t speed up the training process.
If you spend a lot of time in the game, you won’t really need it because you can always start a new training queue once the current one finishes.
Gathering Research in the Economy Tree
In the Economy Tree, I focus mainly on the Gathering Researches because they give the best value for the time you spend here. This section takes 166 days to max, which is much quicker than the 883 days for the Growth Tree. If you focus only on the Gathering Researches, you can cut that time even more.
I usually ignore the research that boosts the resource output from buildings like the Mill, Iron Mine, Sawmill, and Quarry because you can gather way more resources through other means.
Events like Hall of Governors, Working Overtime, and War Preparation are great sources of resources, and others like Viking Vengeance and Bear Hunt also give a lot. So, you really don’t need to focus on boosting resource output.
If you actively do these events and focus on gathering, you’ll have all the resources you need without worrying about the output research, saving you a lot of time.
Right Research Projects for the Battle Section
The Battle Section is the most important part of the Academy and also the most time-consuming, taking 3911 days to max out. But it also gives you the most power.
If you’ve read my post on Lethality, Attack, Defense, and Health, you know that Lethality and Health are the two most important stats. Lethality directly affects Health, so it’s key to focus on these.
In this section, you should focus on Lethality for your Archers and Cavalry, and Health for your Infantry. Infantry are on the front line and take the most damage, while Archers and Cavalry deal most of the damage, with Archers being the top source. Some research affects all troops, while other research affects specific troop types like Cavalry or Archers. The higher priority should be research that impacts all troops.
The most important researches in the Battle Tree are:
- Assault Techniques: Increases Lethality for all troops
- Survival Techniques: Increases Health for all troops
- Regimental Expansion: Increases the number of troops in your rally
So, when prioritizing research, focus first on those that affect all troops, especially Lethality and Health, with Regimental Expansion also being a high priority.
The second priority should be class-specific Lethality for Archers and Cavalry and class-specific Health for Infantry. If you follow these priorities in the Battle Tree, you’ll be able to deal much more damage to enemies and perform well in events like Bear Hunt, Swordland Showdown, and Castle Battle.
