Governor Gear Upgrade Priority Guide

I get asked this a lot in Kingshot’s Discord—what’s the right way to upgrade Governor Gear and what the priority should be. So I figured I’d put together a quick guide.

The general rule of thumb is: Infantry > Archer > Cavalry. Infantry should always be your top priority.

Whether you’re attacking or defending (garrison), Infantry act as your frontline—they take the most damage and basically serve as your meat shields. That’s why for stuff like Mythic Hero Gear, Governor Charms, and Governor Gear, Infantry should always come first.

In most formations for both attack and garrison, you’re running at least 50% Infantry, so it just makes sense to upgrade their Governor Gear first.

Archers come second because they deliver the most damage in PvP and events like Bear Hunt, Castle Battle, and other alliance event. Cavalry usually make up a smaller part of your army and stay out of harm’s way a bit more, so they’re lower priority.

Keep Your Gear Balanced to Avoid Weak Spots

That said, it is recommended to keep your Governor Gear even across all troop types. So while Infantry come first in terms of priority, don’t just max them and ignore the rest.

For example, if you level up Infantry Governor Gear to Epic, make sure to bring Archers and then Cavalry up to Epic too before pushing Infantry to the next tier. Keeping everything balanced helps prevent your Town from having weak spots that enemies can exploit.
