Advanced Rally Guide

Rallies are a big deal in Kingshot because they matter in both PVP (Player vs Player) and PVE (Player vs Environment) battles. Knowing how they work helps you pick the right heroes for each situation.

Rally Captain and Rally Members

When you start a Rally against a Terror, event building, or another player, you become the Rally Captain. Your Alliance members can then join as Rally Members.

In the image above, the player in the red box is the Rally Captain, while the players in the green box are the Rally Members. Now that you understand this, let’s go over how rally skills are selected.

When starting a rally, you can choose a squad of three heroes: one Infantry hero, one Cavalry hero, and one Archer hero. These heroes are important because their skills determine the bonus buffs for all Rally Members.

The expedition skills and exclusive gear skills of these three heroes apply to everyone in the rally. In total, the Rally Captain can contribute up to nine skills—three from each hero.

Skills from Rally Members

As mentioned earlier, the Rally Captain contributes 9 expedition skills from their 3 selected heroes. In addition to that, 4 more skills are added to the rally from the Rally Members. These come from the highest-level top skill of the first hero in each Rally Member’s lineup.

If all Rally Members have maxed-out first skills on their heroes, the additional skills will be taken from the first four players who joined the rally. For example, if five players join a rally with Chenko as their first hero and all have Chenko’s “Stand of Arms” skill maxed, only the skills from the first four joiners will be applied.

In the image below, I am joining a rally using Chenko as my first hero. If Chenko has one of the 4 highest-level FIRST skills among all Rally Members, then Chenko’s FIRST expedition skill will be added as an extra skill to the rally.

Here’s what the final rally bonuses look like after all the members have joined the Rally:

My “Stand of Arms” skill for Chenko was selected as an additional rally skill because it’s Chenko’s first skill and it ranked among the 4 highest-level skills from all Rally Members.

If the first 4 people who join a rally have maxed first skills on their lead heroes, anyone who joins after them won’t have their skills contribute. But if one of the first 4 has, say, a level 4 skill and someone who joins later has a level 5, the higher-level skill from the later joiner will be used instead.

A hero’s first skill is always selected if it qualifies, while the second and third expedition skills cannot be chosen as additional skills. So, if you want to be a better Rally Member, focus on upgrading the first expedition skill of your key heroes.

Some tips for better Rallies

  • Chance-based skills are usually turn-specific, so they get rolled again every turn. For example, if you have 2 Petras as joiners, the first Petra gets her skill roll; if it succeeds, the effect applies for that turn. Then the second Petra gets her roll, and if it comes true, her effect applies for that turn as well. The effects last only for that turn, and both Petras get rolled again in the next turn.
  • When selecting heroes for your rally, always prioritize those that provide universal buffs, such as those affecting “all troops,” “all friendly units,” or “squads.” For example, Gordon’s first expedition skill increases the health of all troops in the squad by 25%, while Chenko’s first skill boosts the squad’s lethality. These kinds of buffs are especially valuable in events like Bear Hunt.
  • For Garrison, choose defender heroes like Gordon, as his first skill can boost the health of all Garrison troops by up to 25%.
  • Let your strongest Alliance member be the Rally Captain for important events like Swordland Showdown. This way, the rally gets the best buffs. Also, communicate in the Alliance chat to coordinate which heroes the Rally Captain should select for special events or key battles.

  1. Hello, may I know if the ‘4 highest-level skills’ rule also applies to the Garrison? Additionally, does this mean that only the first four players who join the Garrison with a maxed first skill will contribute to it?
    Thanks in advance

    • In Garrisons, 4 additional skills come from joiners, just like in Rallies. However, unlike Rallies, the Garrison Leader can change. If a stronger player with better stats joins the Garrison, they’ll replace the original Garrison Leader, who then becomes a joiner. In regular Rallies, the Rally Leader stays the same no matter who joins.

  2. Hey
If you stack chance based skills, do you keep increasing the chance for said occurence until its a hundred percent per round or does that not happen?

    For instance jabel’s first skill?

Also do the bonuses from hero weapons affect your troops separately(in garrison) or like in all rallies only the rally leader adds their skills to everyone? and only 4 joiner skills are added?

    • Chance-based skills don’t stack for joiners, so having 4 Jabels will still only count as one.

Also, hero exclusive gear stats only apply from the garrison or rally leader — so it doesn’t matter if your joiners have exclusive gears or not.

Joiners only contribute troops and four additional skills to the rally — nothing else.

      • What about joiner’s tech combat researches? Do they apply to each joiner individually or overwrite by rally leader?

        • All the stats like Tech, Governor Gear, Charms, Pets, Buffs, and everything else come from the Rally Leader. The joiners’ stats don’t matter at all—they only contribute troops and 4 extra rally skills.

      • Does Garrison works the same way as rally? i.e., Heroes in Guard Station at defending cities provides all the buffs from equipment, governor gears etc, and garrison joiners provide skills from 1st Hero 1st expedition skills?

How about when defending non-cities like HQ, Sanctuary etc. How does that work?

I see a lot of resources talking about rally starters and rally joiners, but nothing much when defending.

        • Defending, Garrison, and Reinforcing work the same way as a Rally, but with one difference—if a player with better stats joins your Garrison, they automatically become the Garrison Leader. In that case, the original Rally Leader gets replaced and will act as a joiner instead.

  3. When garrisoning, is Howard or Gordon better use as the Rally joiner (and who is best to use as a rally caller)? This is for trying to take the kings castle. Tbh a guide on that event would be great!

    • I always recommend using different types of joiners. Running 4 Gordons is a bad practice. Since you’re both taking and dealing damage during battle, it’s better to mix things up — have one for defense, one for lethality, one for health, and one that reduces damage taken.

  4. Hello Daryl,
As far as bonuses, like the ones where you have to spend gems. For example the lethality, attack, health bonuses from the City Bonus section. Will these be applied if you are just a joiner? And are they applied to everyone in the rally?

    • Rally joiners don’t really contribute anything besides their troops and 4 extra rally skills. All other stats—like research, buffs, gear, governor charms, pet buffs, and so on—come from the Rally Leader. Using buffs as a joiner won’t give any benefit to the rally.

  5. Hi Daryl, I think you’ve already answered regarding rally joiners not contributing anything other than troops and first hero skills to whole rally, but what about doing personal damage like in bear or scoring more kills than others while garrisoning and joining rallies, how is that calculated?and does using buffs/Better hero gear on joining heroes for rally joiners doesn’t actually increases their personal damage in a rally? Note that am not talking about whole rally am just curious about how personal damages in a rally are calculated, Thank You !

    • In Bear Hunt, the stats are based on the Rally Leader. As a joiner, you earn points from the damage your troops deal to the Bear. This means joining a stronger player’s rally will give you more points compared to joining a weaker player’s rally.

  6. Daryl,

So if I have Helga with level 1 zeal (5% lethality to rally) as a supporting rally member, will that count only if I am the highest skill selected for Oath of Guardian? I am trying to understand when that additional lethality bonus actually goes into play or if it’s just if I lead rallies.

  7. In bear, as a joiner, does having a second and third hero contribute anything or can you just send join rallies with one hero and have the same result?

    Reply
    • The level of the second and third hero would matter because it increases squad capacity and lets you send more troops, but their skills don’t matter. Only the hero in the first slot can provide an extra skill to the rally.
