In Kingshot, every hero has a different role. Some are great for attacking, some are strong at defending, and others are better as joiners. Most websites put all heroes into one single tier list, but that doesn’t really make sense and often misleads players.
So I made this tier list to help you know which heroes to focus on based on your role in the alliance, whether you’re an attacker, defender, or joiner. On this page, you’ll find three separate tier lists: one for attackers, one for defenders, and one for joiners.
Rally (Attack) Heroes Tier List
| Tier | Heroes |
|---|---|
| S | Amadeus, Petra, Marlin, Rosa, Thrud |
| A | Helga |
| B | Jabel, Saul, Zoe, Hilde, Eric, Jaeger, Alcar, Margot, Vivian, Long Fei |
| C | Quinn, Howard, Chenko, Gordon |
| D | Yeonwoo, Amane, Fahd |
When you’re launching a rally, the widget expedition skill is the most important. It gives a multiplicative boost to your stats, which means the higher your stats are, the bigger the bonus you’ll get.
So, the first thing you should check when starting an attack rally is the widget of the hero you’re sending. This is also why heroes with an attack widget are much stronger and rank higher in tier lists.
Amadeus is at the top because he has the best skills in the game, comes with an attack widget, and stays relevant for more than five generations.
Petra is in the same tier since she also has strong skills and an attack widget; plus, she’s the first cavalry hero to get a rally widget.
Marlin is another good choice because he’s powerful in both the arena and expedition, making him a long-term investment. Rosa is another great archer hero who can replace Marlin in Gen 4.
Helga is placed in A Tier because she’s a good alternative to Amadeus, but her base stats are lower compared to S Tier heroes.
Defender heroes are in B Tier, meaning they’re not the best for attack rallies. Still, in the early generations, you might have no choice but to use them for attacks. Diana and rare heroes aren’t included in the tier list since they don’t have any battle-related skills.
Garrison (Defender) Heroes Tier List
| Tier | Heroes |
|---|---|
| S | Jabel, Zoe, Hilde, Eric, Jaeger, Alcar, Margot, Vivian, Long Fei |
| A | Saul |
| B | Amadeus, Petra, Marlin, Rosa, Helga, Thrud |
| C | Quinn, Howard, Chenko, Gordon |
| D | Yeonwoo, Amane, Fahd |
The defender hero tier list is basically the opposite of the attacker tier list. When picking defender heroes, the main thing to check is whether their widget expedition skill is for defending or attacking.
Right now (up to Gen 4), the best defender heroes are Jabel, Zoe, Hilde, Eric, Jaeger, Alcar, and Margot since they all have defender widgets. Saul is also a good option, but I put him in A Tier because one of his three expedition skills is a growth skill (it boosts construction speed) instead of a battle skill.
Attack heroes go in B Tier for defense. They’re not the best choice for garrison, but they can still work as an alternative. C and D Tier stay the same as the attacker list since those heroes don’t have widgets, so they can’t really be classified as attacker or defender heroes.
Joiner Heroes Tier List
| Tier | Heroes |
|---|---|
| S | Saul, Hilde |
| A | Gordon, Chenko, Amane, Yeonwoo, Amadeus, Margot, Vivian, Thrud |
| B | Marlin, Petra, Jaeger, Jabel, Helga, Rosa, Alcar, Quinn, Howard, Eric, Fahd |
The joiner hero tier list might look a little strange at first, like why Gordon is only in A Tier while Saul is ranked higher. But if you’ve read my other article, “Joiner Hero Mechanics No One Told You About,” it’ll make more sense.
S Tier joiner heroes are the ones you can stack (use four of the same) and still get great results. For example, 4 Sauls or 4 Hildes give a much bigger boost in the SkillMod than 4 Gordons.
A-tier joiners are good on their own, but you shouldn’t use four of them together because they don’t give as strong a boost as S-tier.
B-tier is where most of the chance-based heroes are, or the ones that only give a smaller 20% boost like Howard, Eric, Quinn, and Fahd. They can still be useful, but only if you use one at a time.
Bear Hunt Joiner Heroes Tier List
Joiner heroes for Bear Hunt are a bit different because the goal is only to boost damage—not health or defense; since the Bear doesn’t deal any damage. In this case, the best joiner heroes are the ones that increase Attack or Lethality.
| Tier | Heroes |
|---|---|
| S | Chenko, Amadeus, Yeonwoo, Amane, Margot, Vivian |
| A | Hilde |
| B | Marlin, Petra, Rosa, Thrud |
Hilde is placed in A Tier because her attack boost is lower than the S Tier heroes—she gives a 15% boost while S Tier heroes give 25%. Still, she’s a decent option if you don’t have any of the stronger joiner heroes available.
B Tier heroes can also boost damage, but their skills are chance-based, so they don’t stack well. It’s usually better to use only one of them as a joiner per rally.
Jabel, Saul, Helga, Eric, and Alcar aren’t on the list because their first expedition skill boosts defense, and defense is useless in Bear Hunt.
Dear Daryl ,awesome great job and thank you very much for all patience you have. I mean Italien int the game , if you again and again explain the basics but your informations are already absolutely professional. I have some lil noob questions… In one answer ypu explain Saul+2xHilde+Chenko would been a top joiner combo. I think I almost understood the skillMod math behind but in view of widgest would been Margot not the better choice, instead of Chenko? Or Amandeus he have the same 101 op but a widget , if it’s a offence widget? I am missing Jabel, Zoe, Alcar ect in the effect op list , ofcours some have a chance based skill and the don’t stack but it would been not the better Choice for the multiplying different effect op‘s ? I am a lil confused about 2xHilde , she have 2 op‘s , DamageUp and DefenseUp, both are in the SkillMod calculation? E.g. maybe would
Saul (112/113)+Hilde(112/102)+Eric(202) +Alcar (?) the better top Joiner combo? Or Amadeus (101) instead of Alcar (lethality reduce health) ?
Another question about skills for rally Leder (for Bear too), about ZOE(firstSkill) and Petra(3rdSkill), a lot of different opinions you can find. For me the only general question about, do you „lose/waste“ one of the Skills if they are similar in one rally? I very very appreciate your work and also your work with the YT channel StratGameSloth, pretty awesome job you do❣️
I am at your Discord too and share always your Website in game, because better you can’t explain.
For now enough noob questions, thank you so much❣️
Happy gaming and greetings from Berlin
Thanks for the kind words.
1. Widgets only come from the rally or garrison leader. Joiners don’t contribute widgets.
2. Hilde and Saul are special because they have two different effect ops in the same skill, which gives a strong buff when you do the math. It’s hard to calculate everything on paper, so the best option is to test different joiner setups using the Kingshot Simulator (you can find it on Google).
Hi Daryl,
Excellent post! You’ve done great work! I did have a question about why Thrud is in B tier instead of A tier for Bear Joiners. Her skill isn’t chance based from what I can tell.
Thanks!
Thrud’s first skill is Archer and Infantry specific so she is slightly worse than Hilde.
Hi Daryl, would like to check with you regarding bear hunt joiner heroes tier list.
Isn’t Thrud’s first expedition skill is similar to Hilde and should be listed as A Tier instead (as it’s not chance-based)?
Thrud is slightly worse as bear joiner because her first skill only affects Archers and Infantry, instead of being a global buff like Hilde’s.
Hi Daryl, this is great information and I have been reading a lot of your guides. I want to ask why Saul is considered a top rally joiner as his skills are Health and Defensive focused. I would understand why he is a top defensive joiner. Does it have to do with survivability?
It is about the way different skill ids stack. I have explained this in Joiner Mechanics article. You should check that out.
