King’s Castle Battle Guide: Tips to Win Every Time

The King’s Castle event happens every 2 weeks in Kingshot. (Sometimes the first two Castle Battles can be off schedule.)

The battle lasts for 6 hours. To win, an alliance needs to either hold the Castle for 3 hours straight or have the longest total hold time within the 6 hours.

Winning is a big deal because your alliance can appoint the King of the entire Kingdom, which comes with great perks and rewards. Even if you don’t win, participating gives you a good amount of charm materials for upgrades.

This guide will help you prepare for both the regular Castle Battles and the KvK Castle Battle.

Start with Coordination

The first thing your alliance should do is set up a Discord server. Get all your members to join and hop on voice chat before the battle. Voice chat makes it much easier to time rallies and decide troop/hero formations. The leader should call out which heroes and troop setups to send.

The Double Rally Strategy

For the battle itself, your alliance should launch double rallies with your two strongest members leading them.

  • The first rally should be an attack lineup. By Gen 3, the best attack heroes are Amadeus, Petra, and Marlin.
  • The second rally, launched about 5 seconds later, should be a garrison lineup with Eric, Jaeger, and Hilde (best garrison heroes by Gen 3).

This is how it works:

  • The first attack rally weakens the enemy lineup holding the Castle.
  • The second garrison rally moves in right after to take the Castle.
  • If your attack rally captures the Castle first, recall those attack heroes before the garrison rally hits. This way, the Castle switches to your garrison heroes for better defense.

Important Tip: Always check the widgets of the heroes your are sending as Rally Leader. Widgets give big stat boosts, and the boost scales with your stats. Use heroes with garrison widgets for garrison rallies and heroes with attack widgets for attack rallies.

Troop Formation

  • A good default attack formation is 50:20:30 (Infantry:Cavalry:Archers).
  • If the enemy inside the Castle is infantry-only, switch it up (e.g., 30:20:50).
  • For garrison rallies, an infantry-heavy formation like 60:20:20 usually works well.

Rally Joiners

For joiner heroes, the setup can be the same for both attack and defense. The best all-around combo is Chenko, Amane, Saul, and Fahd. But if you want to focus purely on damage, the highest boost comes from running 2 Chenkos and 2 Amanes.

For garrison, if it’s hard to manage 4 different joiners, have your members send 4 Sauls (better than 4 Gordons), or go with 3 Sauls + 1 Fahd for an even bigger defense boost.

When launching a rally, remind your members to send the right heroes. Using 4 different joiners is harder to coordinate, but it gives the best results.

You can read more about how joiner heroes stack in my other article: Joiner Hero Mechanics No One Told You About.

Holding the Castle

Once you’re inside the Castle, the key is to refill troops constantly. Keep an eye on troop counts—if you’re losing infantry, send a infantry-heavy garrison rally ready to refill. Leaders should coordinate this on voice chat.

You’ll face lots of enemy rallies, so refilling is important to keeping control.

Don’t Forget the Turrets

When your hold is stable, have other strong members launch rallies on turrets to reset them. If you ignore turrets, they deal more and more damage to the Castle.

Infirmary & Healing

Castle Battles will flood your Infirmary. Make sure it’s upgraded if your alliance is serious about this event.

  • Save healing speedups a few days before the event.
  • Check the Events Calendar to prepare.
  • Batch heal to save speedups.
  • Get as many members online as possible to coordinate healing.

Pet Skills & City Buffs

Don’t forget to activate your Pet Skills and City Buffs — they give huge stat boosts that scale with your stats, just like widgets.

  • Use pets like Moose and Grizzly Bear
  • City Buffs can be found by clicking the arrow under your avatar
  • Only Rally Leaders need to activate buffs (joiners don’t)

KvK Castle Battle Strategy

The KvK Castle Battle (during Kingdom of Power) is way more intense since it’s kingdom vs kingdom. The best approach is:

  • Form a Mega Alliance before the event with the strongest players in the kingdom.
  • It’s recommended to set this up during the matchmaking phase so all the strong players are already in the alliance when the preparation phase starts.
  • The current King should coordinate with all top alliances and set up a kingdom-wide Discord.
  • If possible, form two Mega Alliances:
    • One for launching rallies on the castle.
    • One for handling turrets.

This high-level coordination is necessary to winning cross-kingdom battles.

NAP Rules & Rotations

Some kingdoms have NAP (Non-Aggression Pact) rules where top alliances rotate title of King. They often avoid holding the castle for the full 3 hours to let other players get rewards.

  • They purposely drop the castle before hitting 3 hours so the timer resets.
  • This lets everyone log in during the 6-hour window to get personal rewards.

If you’re running a top alliance, understanding and managing this helps keep your kingdom thriving.

    • For Gen 2, a strong attack hero lineup is Amadeus, Hilde, and Marlin. For Garrison, the best combo is Zoe, Hilde, and Saul. Joiner heroes stay the same.
